Is CONVICTED Animal Abuser Cindy Bemis still ‘rescuing’?

Looks like animal hoarder and convicted animal abuser, Cindy Bemis, is still active in the animal rescue community, even though she is on probation for 5 years and not supposed to have contact with animals. It appears as if her ‘rescue’ organization, ourfriends4ever.com, is advertising puppies for sale in the San Diego area. On the website it states that rescue ourfriends4ever.com is based in Los Angeles County and Kern County. The corporation is listed under Bemis’ name!!!!! Some of the smaller dogs were emaciated and living amid their own excrement with little or no water in small portable kennels stacked inside a deteriorating wood and metal barn with a temperature of 114 degrees at 11 a.m., Animal Services Sgt. Nicky Wapner said. "They’re suffering from neglect," she said. "A lot of the dogs were starved, dehydrated and weak just from the heat out here." From 40 to 45 Great Danes were among the 90 dogs found on the property, located off Markham Street a few blocks west of Wood Road. Many of them looked healthy but were kept in chain-link pens about 6 feet by 10 feet. Plastic doghouses were inside some pens. The woman running the operation, Antonia Angela White, 49, was convicted twice before for kennel violations; once in December and once two years ago today, according to county court records. Both of those cases related to violations at a property in the 17900 block of Haines Street, near Riverside National Cemetery. Wapner said Animal Services had lost track of White but found her about three months ago through an unrelated call to a nearby property. Officials tried to work with White to get her to bring the conditions at the Markham Street property up to code but she did not cooperate, Wapner said. Also arrested were Phyllis Williams, 58, of Ontario, and Lois Dolan, 54, who is believed to be a transient living on the property. Williams and White co-own Danehaven, a Great Dane breeding operation, Wapner said. Dolan worked for them. According to a white board that Wapner said was used at pet adoptions outside pet stores, Danehaven charged $250 to $300 per dog. The Markham Street property that White and Williams lease has no house, just weeds, trees, the ramshackle barn and the pens. On Thursday, it was littered with rubbish and stacked with empty plastic dog carriers, boxes holding 30 13.2-ounce cans of dog food, cat litter, unassembled metal kennels, fencing materials, dirty blankets and towels, liver-flavored dog training treats, flea and tick insecticide for dogs, and an old skiff. Dog feces covered parts of the barn floor and insect-covered fly strips and bursting flytraps hung inside the structure. The entire operation was a health hazard, Wapner said. "You should’ve seen the rats that scattered when we lifted up the doghouses," she said. Neighbor Sue McNamara said she and her family knew there were dogs next door but not 90. "At times it was pretty loud," she said. When they complained to White, she would do her best to keep the dogs quiet, McNamara said. Animal Services took all 90 dogs to county facilities, where they would be given thorough checkups, Wapner said. The ailing canines would be brought back to health if possible, she said. "I do think they’ll be OK," Wapner said. Case Updates A Riverside woman found guilty of animal cruelty and neglect has been sentenced to three years of probation and community service. Antonia Angela White, 51, was convicted last December for her mistreatement of more than 90 dogs on her property. Officials said she kept the dogs, 40 of them Great Danes, in squalid conditions. The dogs were seized in July 2007 on a day that reached 100 degrees. Many of the dogs had no access to water, according to officials. According to Animal Services spokesman John Welsh many of the dogs also did not have proper shelter. One of the conditions of White’s probation is that she not keep more than four dogs and that she never be allowed to own or operate a kennel or rescue facility in California. According to Animal Services, many of her dogs were kept in a barn without ventilation and some were left to sleep in piles of waste, replete with maggots. "Any reasonable person who saw the conditions that day would have been horrified," said Animal Services Captain Tammie Belmonte in December. "Even the veteran sheriff’s deputies who assisted us that day were disgusted." Source: KCAL9 News – February 5, 2010 Update posted on Feb 6, 2010 – 10:32AM Back to Top Thursday’s scheduled arraignment of three women arrested in July on suspicion of animal cruelty was pushed back to September, Riverside County District Attorney’s officials said. Antonia Angela "Angel" White, Phyllis Williams and Lois Dolan were arrested after Riverside County Department of Animal Services seized 92 dogs from a property in unincorporated Riverside County near Mead Valley. The three are out on $5,000 bail each, Riverside Superior Court records showed. Dolan said Thursday that there are two sides to the story. "These dogs are loved," Dolan said Thursday night by phone. "These dogs are taken care of." Some of the seized dogs were emaciated and living amid their own excrement with little or no water in small portable kennels stacked inside a deteriorating wood and metal barn in the 100-plus degree heat, Animal Services Sgt. Nicky Wapner said in July. Is Charlotte Spadaro looking to Relocate to Kern County, CA, a Hoarder’s Haven?

Hoardingchihuahuas is hearing that self proclaimed animal ‘rescuer’, Charlotte Spadaro, is looking to relocate to Kern County, California, known to many as a HOARDER’S HAVEN, and open up an animal ‘sanctuary’. No word yet if former Animal Control head, Denise Haynes, will have a ‘welcome to Kern County’ lunch with Ms. Spadaro. As we mentioned, Denise Haynes had lunch with self-proclaimed animal ‘rescuer’, Kimi Peck, after Kimi Peck was legally forced out of Los Angeles due to many charges and convictions stemming from Peck’s ‘rescuing’ efforts. No word yet if Susan Marlowe, CPA, will finance Ms. Spadaro’s Kern County kennel or if Susan Marlowe will start up a non-profit rescue organization for Ms. Spadaro.

Charlotte Spadaro busted again! 29 Malnourished, Neglected Animals Seized from her property

Charlotte Spadaro was busted again…We’re sure she will do what other animal abusers do…blame somebody else…Here’s the latest disturbing story:

29 Malnourished, Neglected Animals Seized from Former Mayor’s Property KTLA News 9:20 PM PDT, April 23, 2010 These neglected puppies were seized from the property of Charlotte Spadaro, a former mayor and self-proclaimed animal rescuer. (Riverside Animal Services / April 23, 2010) RIVERSIDE– Officers seized 29 neglected animals from the property of former Beverly Hills mayor and self-proclaimed animal rescuer Charlotte Spadaro, authorities said. One dog was found dead. Riverside County Department of Animal Services personnel seized 24 dogs, a cat and her four kittens on a property in the 3000 block of Myers Street, near Van Buren Boulevard, just south of the Riverside (91) Freeway Friday, according to county officials. Several puppies were found malnourished and plagued with mange, according to John Welsh of the Animal Services Department. Several rusted, filthy cages covered in feces were discovered on the property by officers, along with piles of rotten food and trash. A deceased dog was discovered in a trailer on the property, where 15 other dogs, mainly puppies, had been housed. The stench of the trailer was overwhelming, according to lead investigator Captain Tammie Belmonte. "No animal should have to live like this," Belmonte said. ——————————————————————————– Sign up for KTLA Breaking News Email Alerts ——————————————————————————– Officers were on the scene to check on the animals welfare by 11:15 a.m. Friday after a concerned neighbor called authorities. Though she was not present at the time of the seizure, the owner of the dogs is believed to be former mayor of Beverly Hills Charlotte Spadaro, who the Animal Services Department has been monitoring for more than two years. "This will be processed as a potential animal cruelty case and forwarded to the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office," Captain Belmonte said. Spadaro has been involved in past animal abuse investigations, including one in 2005 in which she was arraigned on one felony count of animal cruelty after 135 dogs and 30 cats were seized from her and a dog was found dead and rotting in a freezer. In February 2009, authorities shut down an unlicensed kennel Spadaro was allegedly operating on Jasmine Street in Riverside. The 29 animals seized Friday were taken to the new Western Riverside County/City Animal Shelter after they were examined and treated by veterinarians. Copyright © 2010, KTLA-TV, Los Angeles

Warrant Issued For Charlotte Spadaro, Former Mayor Of Beverly Hills….

Charlotte Spadaro, Esq., former Mayor of Beverly Hills and self proclaimed animal ‘rescuer’ is a wanted woman in San Bernardino. A warrant was issued for Ms. Spadaro’s arrest after she was a no show for her hearing stemming from, you guessed it, animal cruelty. Bail is set at $25,000.00. Ms. Spadaro was also Susan Marlowe’s attorney in Riverside County when Susan Marlowe acquired Cynthia Gudger’s abused animals in 2006. Even in 2006, Charlotte Spadaro was charged with horrific animal cruelty. Susan Marlowe, CPA evicting Kimi Peck and Ms. Peck’s hundreds of animals from her Tehachapi property?

Susan Marlowe, CPA, is still Chihuahua Rescue aka the Dog Angels ‘volunteer’ accountant and continues to work hard to make sure people donate to Ms. Peck’s non-profit ‘rescue’ operation located in Kern County, California, though Ms. Marlowe and Ms. Peck continue to claim they are located in Los Angeles county. Ms. Marlowe is very familiar with Kimi Peck’s extensive history in criminal courts stemming from Kimi Peck’s ‘rescuing’ in Los Angeles County. This extensive history, however, did not stop Ms. Marlowe from moving Kimi Peck and her over 200 animals onto Marlowe’s foreclosed Tehachapi property in June of 2009. Why then would Susan Marlowe file eviction papers against ‘rescuer’ Kimi Peck? We don’t trust anything Susan Marlowe does or Kimi Peck does; however, the way we see this, well, this would be ‘Sanctuary’ #8 ‘rescuer’ Kimi Peck will be forced to close since 1997 (though it looks like Ms. Marlowe is, in our opinion, scamming the system again because she’s giving Ms. Peck six (6) months to relocate…Check out the eviction Susan Marlowe filed against Kimi Peck

Why We Continue Exposing Susan Marlowe

We attached the Riverside County Veterinarians report and the on scene animal control officers report regarding Cynthia Gudger’s animals (the ones they examined after Gudger’s house was raided in Hemit in 2006). This is the same report Susan Marlowe read and this report did not stop Susan Marlowe from not only giving these same animals back to Cynthia Gudger and allowing fugitive Cynthia Gudger to live on Susan Marlowe’s property with these animals, this report also did not stop Susan Marlowe from starting up a non-profit animal welfare rescue organization for Cynthia Gudger. Susan Marlowe should be investigated for horrific animal cruelty. WE SAY: BEWARE OF SELF PROCLAIMED BEVERLY HILLS ANIMAL ‘RESCUER’, SUSAN MARLOWE, CPA…please read the official report:

Inside [Cynthia Gudger’s] Hemit (Riverside) house, according to Riverside County Chief Veterinarian, Allan Drusys, were many animals, including dead animals in a freezer. The animals that he and another Veterinarian examined were fifteen (15) dogs and 23 cats. All of the cats were covered in caked-on fecal material and soaked in urine. The odor, he claimed, was overwhelming. The cats were also infested with *censored*roaches and appeared to be stressed. Every cat was underweight to some extent with two described as emaciated. All cats had mild to moderate serous nasal discharge which was consistent with upper respiratory infection and chronic respiratory irritation requiring medication. The dogs were also thoroughly examined. All of the dogs were underweight and had long toenails from inactivity, confinement and lack of care. The dogs were malodorous and unkept. Cynthia Gudger, who was using the alias at that time of Barbara Ryan, told the Dr. Drusys that a few of the animals were being treated by her own Veterinarians; however, the names of the vets she gave had no idea who she was and said they were NOT treating the animals. Two of the cats had to be humanely euthanized because they suffered from chronic kidney failure. Animal Control officer Lesley Huennekens, stated in a sworn statement when she entered [Cynthia Gudger’s] house, she was overcome by the stench of urine and feces and actually, it made her nauseous and burned her eyes, nose and throat. The living room was full of feces and urine. She stated that she could see feces and roaches on the walls. In the kitchen there was a Rottweiller mix tied so tightly inside the cabinet, the dog could not move. There was no food and water visible. Also in the kitchen, she and another officer heard barking from behind a door secured by numerous bungee cords and some kind of metal cage material. The officers discovered two dogs cowering in the corner of what appeared to be a pantry. The two dogs were covered in urine and feces. There was so much urine and feces that the drywall inside of the pantry was disintegrating and caused urine burns on the pads of the dogs feet. These dogs had no water, food or light. In another room, the officers found two dogs fighting over a dead cat. The urine, feces and decaying flesh stench was overwhelming. The drapes in the room were soaked and stained with urine. The closet door was off its hinges and appeared to be soaked in urine. The closet floor was also covered in feces and urine. In addition to the dead cat, there were also at least 10 cats running loose in the room. In the bathroom they found a dog tied with a cable inside the bathtub. There was no food or water available to the dog. She had to use bolt cutters to free the dog from the wall. There was so much urine, feces and trash in the bathroom she was slipping on the floor while removing the dog. In another room they found two Chihuahua mixed dogs each trapped inside an animal carrier. Both carriers were so full of feces and roaches that the dogs could not stand up. The dogs appeared malnourished as she could see the rib and hip bones as well as the entire spine. The cats were thin, with spine and hip bones showing. Their coats were dull and dirty. There was discharge coming from their eyes and noses. Some of the cats had missing eyes and other had missing teeth. In another bathroom they found 12 cats trapped inside. Again, the floors and walls were covered in feces and urine and there was no food or water available.

Kimi Peck does NOT have a permit to operate a kennel; however, Chihuahua Rescue donation monies continue to pay Kimi Peck’s bill

According to Chihuahua Rescue’s 2008 tax return, filed in October of ’09 by ‘volunteer’ accountant, Susan Marlowe, even though Kimi Peck refused to apply for a permit to operate a kennel and even though she claimed she was no longer a rescue, again, Chihuahua Rescue’s tax returns tell a much different story…Looks like Chihuahua Rescue continues to pay Kimi Peck’s bills and expenses in Tehachapi, where Ms. Peck is residing…Not bad for breaking the law! Looks like Chihuahua Rescue needs to be audited!

In 2008 Chihuahua Rescue made 107,502. Breakdown what this money was supposedly used for, according to ‘trusty’ and ‘volunteer’ accountant, Susan Marlowe: Occupency – 11,008.00 Auto – 5,366.00 Cable/Internet – 1,184.00 Dog Food – 3,674.00 Dog Licenses – 2,212.00 Equipment Rental – 1,155.00 Maintenance Supplies – 6,778 Office Expenses – 793.00 Outside Labor – 51,023.00 Repairs – 2,811.00 Supplies – 14,997.00 Telephone – 1,831.00 Tools – 550.00 Veterinary Fees – 2,298.00 ***Kimi Peck has hundreds of animals, many she claims are special needs, she only spent 2298.00 in vet services. She claims she only uses the best and most expensive dog food though she only spent $3,674.00 on food for over 200 dogs. Chihuahua Rescue and Transport, a very reputable rescue organization that does not warehouse their animals in illegal kennels and does not have nearly as many animals to care for as Kimi does, spent close to 100,000.00 in vet bills. Notice how Kimi Peck and Susan Marlowe are claiming close to $15,000.00 in ‘Supplies’? And, if they don’t have a ‘sanctuary’, what’s the $11,000 in occupency for? If you donate to this ‘rescue’, ask Kimi Peck and Susan Marlowe if you can see their books. Also ask them what workers they are paying 51,000.00? Also ask why the majority of the donation money did not go to the animals…We’re guessing that the chances of you seeing their books would be the same chances of you getting into Peck’s Tehachapi ‘Sanctuary’ without prior notification and the chances are slim to NONE.

Animal ‘Rescuer’ Kimi Peck’s Criminal Charges – THERE ARE MANY!

Check out Kimi Peck’s complete history in Los Angeles’ Criminal Court and Kern County Criminal Court pertaining to her ‘rescuing’. To Kimi Peck’s defense, she claims she’s done nothing wrong and all of the charges AND convictions are because of a conspiracy. She further states she’s one of the best animal ‘rescuers’ in the country.

OF JUSTICE 12/07/09 012 M PC 1320(A) FAILURE TO APPEAR ON MISDEMEANOR CHARGE **** Many have seen animals die careless deaths, suffer from untreated diseases, and live day in and day out in filthy dirty cages without getting any exercise. Though Ms. Peck claims she has adopted out over 5000 animals and spent close to 10M of her own money in rescue, others see a woman who fits the description of an Animal Hoarder.
